Crystal #3, acrylic on canvas, 140 x 130 cm, 2014

Crystaloscope, installation, with Nicolas Grospierre, 2014

Crystal and Crystaloscope
The Crystaloscope is a optical device which transforms the viewer’s perception and provides the appropriate view on the canvas hanging in front of it. Using a distorted kaleidoscopic set of mirrors, the Crystaloscope is in fact a metaphor on the idea of the crystal, while at the same time making a skewed use of the way cameras work.

Mergeoscope, in front of the two canvases
The Mergeoscope is an optical device which enables to look at two paintings at the same time. Using a two-way mirror set in a custom designed frame, and placing next to it, with extreme precision two canvases, the Mergeoscope literally merges the two canvases into a single vision, visible in the opening of the frame.
