Olga Mokrzycka-Grospierre
Painter and theater stage designer

Graduate from the Faculties of Painting (specialization in animated film) and Stage Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
In the field of visual arts, she is the author of paintings on canvas, wood and concrete, as well as site specific installations.
As a stage designer, she has created stage designs for plays at the Nowy Teatr and the Teatr Studio in Warsaw.
In painting, her interests initially (until 2018) oscillated around architectural themes. At that time, she created large formats depicting empty, bright architectural spaces entitled Structures (works from this series are in the collection of the Piotr Nowicki Foundation for Modern Art). In parallel - Concrete Works - small works on self made concrete slabs (one of the works is in the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw).
Between 2013 and 2016 she also created a series of paintings Crystals -large format paintings depicting crystals, made using crystallizing paint. (In the painting depicting crystals and stones, small crystals are formed). These works were presented by BWA Warsaw gallery during Warsaw Gallery Weekned in 2014 in the exhibition A Glass Shard in the Eye.
After 2018, she began working on figurative painting series on black canvases - paintings created using a specific author's technique reminiscent of Zen drawing - figurative works are done with just a few, precisely guided brushstrokes. A great deal of focus and concentration is required. There is no room for error, a failed line must be painted over and the painting started anew. The created record resembles an X-ray.
Using this method, 3 cycles were created so far :
- Animals (2018-2021)
- Sirens  (2020-until now) (three of these works are in the collection of the Museum of Warsaw),
- Between Pain and Pleasure - a series of paintings centered around the daily struggles and emotional experiences of women.
At the same time, she works on a series entitled Paesina -  large-format paintings created with crystallizing paint, which spills uncontrollably over the canvas, creating oneiric “landscapes” that evoke various associations. These spills are then worked on, tamed by the artist.
